Why This Recipe Is So Easy To Love
Pro Kitchen Tips
- Cook the bacon until it’s crispy but not burnt to keep a nice balance of crunch and flavor.
- Toast the burger bun lightly to add a bit of extra texture and prevent sogginess.
Step 1
Gently heat your grill to medium-high and give the grates a quick brush with oil so the burgers don’t stick. Shape the ground beef into four patties and sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
Step 2
While the grill is heating, cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, flipping now and then until it’s nice and crispy, about 10 to 12 minutes. Once done, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
Step 3
Add a splash of olive oil to a pan over medium-high heat and sauté the onion slices until they’re soft and a little caramelized, which should take around 5 to 7 minutes. Set those aside for now.
Step 4
Grill the patties for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until they’re cooked to how you like them. A minute before they’re done, lay a slice of American cheese on each patty so it melts perfectly.
Step 5
While the burgers finish up, crack the eggs into a nonstick pan over medium heat. Let them cook until the edges start to turn opaque, about a minute, then cover the pan, lower the heat, and cook gently until the whites are fully set, roughly 4 minutes.
Step 6
To assemble, place each burger on the bottom half of a bun, then add a fried egg, two slices of crispy bacon, a spoonful of those sautéed onions, a bit of mayo, and finally the top bun. Serve right away and enjoy!
