What Makes This Dish So Tasty
Practical Cooking Tips
- Press the mixture firmly into the pan to help the squares hold together.
- Let the squares cool completely before cutting to prevent crumbling.
Step 1
Combin the condensed milk, coconut milk, and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Stir everything gently until the butter has melted and the mixture is smooth. Add a pinch of salt and give it a quick stir.
Step 2
Turn the heat up to medium-low and toss in the marshmallows. Keep stirring until they’ve completely melted and the mixture becomes thick and jelly-like—it should be sticky and pull away cleanly from the sides of the pan.
Step 3
Raise the heat to medium for a short while to thin the mixture out a bit. Once it’s more liquid, take the pan off the heat and stir in the rice cereal along with half a cup of coconut flakes. Make sure the cereal is well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Step 4
Let everything sit and cool down for about 30 minutes so it firms up a bit. When it’s cool enough to handle, put on some plastic gloves and roll the mixture into bite-sized balls, about an inch across. If you like, sprinkle some extra coconut flakes on top for a nice finish.
