Why This Recipe Is A Favorite
Tips For Better Flavor
- Use medium-high heat to sear the steak quickly and lock in juices.
- Avoid overcooking to keep the meat tender and prevent it from becoming tough.
Directions
Combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Press the steak gently into the flour mixture, making sure it's coated well, then shake off any extra flour. Heat some vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, cook the steak, turning it to brown all sides evenly—this should take about 5 to 7 minutes. Take the steak out of the pan and set it aside, then pour off any extra oil from the skillet. Add the ketchup, chopped onion, and water to the pan, stirring everything together. Return the steak to the skillet, lower the heat to medium-low, cover it, and let it simmer gently until the meat is tender, which usually takes about an hour.
