Why This Dish Is A Crowd Favorite
Cooking Pointers
- Taste and adjust the sweetness or acidity as it cooks to suit your preference.
- Use fresh ingredients for the best depth of flavor.
Step 1
Warm the bacon drippings in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook it gently until it’s soft and translucent, which should take about 7 minutes. Toss in the garlic and ginger, stirring everything together for another 30 seconds to release their flavors. Turn the heat down to low.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, mix together the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, chipotle sauce, mustard, ground chile pepper, pepper, salt, cumin, coriander, and paprika until well combined.
Step 3
Pour this sauce mixture into the pan with the onions and give it a good stir. Let it simmer gently for about 20 minutes, stirring often so it doesn’t stick or burn. Once it’s thickened and flavorful, it’s ready to use!
