Why This Recipe Is So Tasty
Tips For Perfect Results
- Let the patties chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before cooking to help them hold together better.
- Cook the burgers on medium heat to get a nice crispy crust without burning.
Step 1
Bring the vegetable broth, hoisin sauce, and sesame oil to a boil in a saucepan. Once it’s boiling, stir in the quinoa, then lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer until the quinoa is tender—this usually takes about 20 minutes. Take it off the heat and let it cool down a bit.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the black beans, eggs, bread, water, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mash everything together until well mixed. Then, add the cooled quinoa and stir it all up until evenly combined.
Step 3
Heat some canola oil in a big skillet over medium-high heat. Shape the mixture into patties using about half a cup for each one. Cook the patties in the skillet until they’re golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. When they’re done, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
