Why This Recipe Is So Enjoyable
Expert Cooking Tips
- Use fresh broccoli with firm stalks for the best texture.
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice after steaming to brighten the flavors.
Directions
Warm some olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Toss in the shallots and garlic, cooking them gently until they’re soft and fragrant, which should take about 3 minutes. While that’s happening, season your salmon fillets with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the salmon in the skillet with the skin side facing up and let it cook for around 4 minutes. Then, carefully flip the fillets so the skin side is down, and spread the shallots and garlic right over the top. Add the broccoli around the salmon, giving it a little stir to coat everything in the flavorful oil. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon and broccoli, then cover the skillet. Let it steam for about 5 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through.
