Tips For Best Results
- Cook bacon until crispy, then drain on paper towels to keep it from getting greasy on the burger.
- Let the cheese melt slightly on the hot patties before assembling for a gooey texture.
Step 1
Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Turn it every now and then until it’s nicely browned, which should take about 5 minutes. Once done, drain the bacon on some paper towels and set aside.
Step 2
While the bacon is cooking, preheat your grill to medium heat, around 300 to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, and give the grate a light oiling so the burgers don’t stick.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine the cooked bacon bits with chopped green onions, then mix this into the ground beef. Shape the mixture into 1/4-pound patties, making sure the bacon and onions are evenly distributed. Sprinkle both sides with garlic salt and pepper, and press a small dimple into the center of each patty—this helps them cook evenly.
Step 4
Place the burgers on the grill and spoon about half a tablespoon of steak sauce into each indentation. Let them cook for about 5 minutes before flipping. After flipping, add another half tablespoon of steak sauce to the center of each patty, then top with a slice of Cheddar cheese. Grill for another 4 minutes or until the cheese melts and the burgers reach your preferred doneness (an instant-read thermometer should hit 160°F for well-done).
Step 5
While the burgers are finishing up, toast your hamburger buns on the grill until they’re lightly browned. Once everything’s ready, take the burgers and buns off the grill and put together your cheeseburgers. Enjoy!
